Right before Christmas BTR brought up the idea of a quick getaway to Nashville, TN without the boys. Didn’t have to ask me twice! So we spent a grand total of 30(ish) hours in Nashville but we had the BEST time ever and I cannot wait to go back! So here’s everything you need to do if you only have one night in Nashville!
So we (and by we I mean BTR) basically did all our research in one week and made a hotel reservation while on our drive there. This is so not normal for BTR who usually spends weeks (maybe months) researching trips. And yes I did say BTR did all the planning because that guy is the BEST trip planner ever. Seriously he is really good at it and he had three pages of tiny handwritten notes of everything we wanted to do. So even though he only had one week to pull it together, I’m pretty sure we saw all the best places in Nashville because of his planning.
We arrived right around lunch so our first stop was a little taco joint called Mas Tacos Por Favor. And let’s just say I would drive down to Nashville and back in a day if it meant I could eat there. Pro Tip: go sit at the bar and you can order your food from the bartender and not wait in line. The tacos were amazing (get the fried avocado) and the sangria and margaritas did not disappoint either.
The rest of the afternoon we hit up a few more neighborhoods and found some walls (channeling my inner Desiree!) around the city. Everything was pretty close together/easy to get to. It was super cold so we just did a lot of driving and jumping out at random stops. But that’s pretty typical for us when we travel. We like to see everything.
We really loved visiting Marathon Village. They had my favorite wall of our trip and a ton of cute shops as well as a winery and distillery. My favorite shop was the gourmet marshmallow shop!
We headed back to our hotel for a little rest before walking to two breweries. Yes, of course, BTR picked our hotel based on it’s proximity to breweries, what are you new around here?!? First stop was Jackalope Brewing Co. and then we walked over to Yazoo Brewing Co. Both had great beer and venues! We then went back to our hotel to change and get ready for dinner and a night out on the town!
So since our trip was so last minute we weren’t able to get dinner reservations at Husk, but BTR called and they had seats available at the bar so we hopped in an Uber (we took 3 Ubers the whole trip and they were all under $6, so awesome!) and headed over.
According to BTR, they had an amazing whiskey selection, but I was a fan of the cocktail menu! The space is an old house and when you walk in the first thing you see is an open kitchen, I loved it! We ordered oysters and steak tartare, both which were absolutely delicious and only made me want to come back and have a full meal there. We had fun talking with the bartender about the city and made friends with a couple sitting next to us.
After dinner, we grabbed another Uber and headed over to lower Broadway to check out the honky tonks! This was so much fun!! It kind of felt like college with lots of bar hopping, but we totally paid for it the next morning. ;) There weren’t any covers and we just walked down the street popping in different places. There were so many good bands and different types of music, from old-school country, to newer country, to not country. I can’t imagine how much fun it would be to visit again with friends and when it’s warmer!
We slept in the next day (every parent’s dream!!!) so we ended up having to wait in line for brunch. Multiple friends had recommended Biscuit Love so it was a must do on our list. We really only had to wait for about 20 minutes, which wasn’t terrible. Our biscuits were absolutely amazing and the fresh squeezed orange juice was so good!
After breakfast we did a little more neighborhood hopping and then ended up at Draper James, Reese Witherspoon’s boutique! It was pretty much the cutest place EVER and I wanted to move in, especially with that famous blue and white striped wall, which also happened to be the only picture I took there. I brought home the cutest little makeup clutch as a Christmas gift for myself.
Our last stop before heading home was Five Daughters Bakery for some 100 layer donuts. Yes, I was still stuffed with biscuits from breakfast but I had to take some home to enjoy later! Their shop was so adorable and looked like it would be fun with kids in warm weather!
After that, we grabbed some gas and hit the highway home! Yes, this was the quickest trip ever, but BTR and I had so much fun in Nashville and cannot wait to visit again!
Have you ever been to Nashville? What do we need to do next time we visit?
