So we finally went on our first big adventure as a family of four! And it couldn’t have been better timed because Eckert’s opened strawberry picking this past weekend!
This post was sponsored by Eckert’s but all opinions are my own. We love supporting local businesses!
I was a little concerned with being able to handle everything with both kids and going out to the fields, so we took my mom with us, which was perfect because she was able to watch Ezra in his stroller (sleeping baby for the win!) and Brandon and I were able to pick strawberries (and also take approximately 700 photos) with Jude!
We got there pretty early (that’s my number one tip, go early to beat the crowds and the heat!) and jumped right on a tractor to head to the fields. We were able to take the stroller and everything on the tractor without folding it!
We jumped off the tractor and headed straight into the fields for picking! Oh and remember how I said I took about 700 photos? Guess how many I took of Ezra? ONE. I took one photo of him. Unless you count the ones with his stroller in the background. Talk about a total #momfail.
But back to the strawberries.
They were honestly the biggest, reddest, juiciest strawberries I’ve ever seen! And the best part about picking? You can eat as many as you want while you are in the field!
And this next one might be my favorite photo from the day!
Of course guess who doesn’t even like to eat strawberries? Jude, that’s who.
Weirdest kid ever! Who doesn’t like strawberries? That’s fine though, more for me!
He was awesome at picking them though!
Once we were done picking all the berries we could carry, we jumped back on a tractor and headed back to the main part of Eckert’s to check out the rest of the Strawberry Festival!
They had a children’s play area with a petting farm, carnival rides, and bounce houses. BTR and Jude hopped on the train and I couldn’t believe how long they were gone, it looked like a fun ride!
Once they got back from the train we decided to try out the pony rides. And surprisingly Jude loved it!! I really thought he would freak out and want off but he went around quite a few times before he wanted BTR to take him off.
After all of that fun we worked up quite an appetite and headed to the restaurant. I would highly recommend making reservations in advance OR you can download the NoWait app (that’s my other Eckert’s tip!) and make your reservation from there. While waiting we played by the Eckert’s truck.
Make sure you ask to see the spring menu in the restaurant, my mom and I both ordered the strawberry turkey melt and it was to-die-for-delicious! Of course I have no photos of our food because three seconds after I ordered my meal was when Ezra decided he was also hungry! I quickly found a more private place to feed him and then came back to our table to finish my meal.
After we finished our lunch we decided we just could not live without custard, okay fine I was the only one who said they couldn’t live without it. But everyone else also still ordered some yummy concretes. But guess what? No pictures of the actual custard because that’s when Ezra started melting down and Jude suddenly remembered he was two and needed to be crazy. But what can you expect? They were seriously both so awesome the rest of the day I’m still calling it a win!
We were able to snap one photo of all of us, including my mom, before we left. And it’s not the most perfect styled shot, but I love it!
If you are looking for something fun to do the next few weeks I would definitely head to Eckert’s for strawberry picking! Picking is open everyday from 9 am to 5 pm and the Strawberry Festival is May 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, 29 & 30. Make sure to check out the crop updates on their website to confirm picking dates and times!
