Sunday Afternoon Pizza Date

This post is sponsored by OXO, but all opinions are my own.

Since our big birthday fiesta was rained out this weekend, (boo, but it looks like gorgeous weather next weekend, YAY!), I decided to spend some time in the kitchen making pizzas with Jude!

Saturday afternoon we headed over to STL to run a few errands so we picked up all our pizza supplies at Trader Joe’s. They have this amazing garlic and herb pizza dough that is sooooo tasty, inexpensive, and easy to use!

Sunday during Ezra’s nap, Jude and I got to cooking!

He was pretty excited to use his kitchen helper that BTR built him.

I thought he would enjoy spreading the dough, but he was a little hesitant. Which was fine because he probably would have thrown flour all over the kitchen. :)

We put the dough onto our new OXO Non-Stick Pro Pizza Pan after it was rolled out. This pan is amazing, it has a micro-textured pattern for even baking and it is so heavy duty. It feels like a professional pan. I would love to get a baking sheet and cookie sheet in this material I loved it so much. #mothersdayiscomingBTR #hinthint

Next, it was time to add our sauce. Fun fact, my first real job in high school was making pizzas and salads at Cutter’s during the summer with my best friend Stephanie. And we came home every single day covered in pizza sauce. It was an awesome first job. And a messy one.

After spreading the sauce we had to grate our cheese! I bought a ball of mozzarella to top the pizza. I used our OXO Complete Grate & Slice Set which has four different surfaces for slicing and grating. Since mozzarella is a softer cheese I used the orange coarse grater. You can grate into the lid which has non-skid feet and measuring marks, or you can grate over a bowl or plate. The grater set also includes food holder to save your fingers and a nice storage container to keep it all together. And it’s top rack dishwasher safe, which is necessary in a house with this many dishes!

After I grated the cheese, Jude helped me cover the pizza, and I think this was his favorite part!

Next, I sliced a red onion using the slicer plate. I loved how thin the onions were (perfect for pizza toppings!) and uniform, I legit could never cut that thin or even with a knife! I’m really excited to use the slicer for radishes out of our garden in a few weeks.

After the onions, we added pepperoni.

Then the pizza was ready to bake!

While the pizza baked I grated some parmesan using the yellow medium grater.

After the pizza was done and I took it out of the oven, I sliced it using the OXO Non-Stick Pizza Wheel. It’s made of plastic and safe to use on the non-stick pizza pan, plus it’s also dishwasher safe. It cut right through our pizza in one pass!

One of my favorite tricks is when I cut biscuits for chicken and dumplings (recipe coming soon!) is to use a pizza wheel, it’s faster than a knife!

Jude and I had a fun Sunday afternoon making pizzas and I can’t wait to do it again soon (like maybe tonight) with him! Thanks to OXO for the fun tools to make our job easier!
